This position is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and proposing measures to correct or improve California Olive Ranch and Lucini final products and processes to meet established quality standards. Key responsibilities include specification document control, vendor compliance, report and procedures writeup, formula development, and product retains & kitchen management.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining document control of finished product formulas, nutritional facts, raw material and ingredient specifications from COR and/or suppliers.
  • Responsible for maintaining document control of supplier compliance files, raw material, ingredient, and vendor compliance registers.
  • Assists the Supply & Product Quality Manager with requesting and evaluating vendor documentation for FSQMS vendor review and approval & conducting the annual vendor performance evaluations.
  • Assist with food safety & quality customer documentation requests and maintaining customer portals.
  • Assist with consumer and customer inquiries and investigations.
  • Present on site for COR produced items’ First Production Run and verify raw material and product weights & measurements on Finished Product Specification.
  • Maintain the product retains and PI utensils inventory, and the cleanliness & organization of the Chico Kitchen in prep for various tastings and cuttings.
  • Facilitate and prep for team cuttings and tastings on various projects.
  • Data entry of team cuttings into excel and support reporting and summary to Supply and Product Quality Manager.
  • Support in recipe development on various food projects.
  • Market data research for various project needs including but not limited to, putting together summary reports with pricing for key competition, nutritional’s, photos, ingredient statements, claims.
  • Assist with shipments of samples to various parties.
  • Assist in maintaining product certification requirements including but not limited to: USDA Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, OOCC, Applied Sensory, dietary certifications, code of conduct, and sustainable audits.
  • Writeup summary reports for, but not limited to, - 2nd party audit, internal audit, vendor evaluation with provided document and records.
  • Conduct research and write up summary reports for risk assessment and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) regarding suppliers & product quality.
  • Shall be well versed and agree to the business continuity Commitment to Food Safety and Quality. Shall report anything that may compromise food safety and quality to appropriate personnel, including the SQF Practitioner.
  • Assist with maintaining files on the company shared folders, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date information.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Shall be familiar in regulatory body requirements including but not limited to: FDA, CDPH, and SQF (GFSI).
  • Ability to read and understand company policies and procedures and implement appropriately.
  • Assist in problem solving and in making this a more effective organization.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to read and write the English language.
  • Manage details of multiple projects in an efficient and organized method.
  • Produce work in a timely, budgeted, scheduled and profitable manner for the company.
  • Must apply human safety procedures and principles daily and protect self and others from injury.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer Microsoft Office platform (outlook, word, excel)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or related field preferred
  • HACCP certified preferred
  • SQF Practitioner certified a plus
  • PCQI certified a plus
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • Ability to work varying hours, some weekends, and varying schedules
  • Valid California Driver’s License

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a food manufacturing facility vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. This is a primary food manufacturing facility classification, commonly standing in work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. This position requires standing, sitting, walking, push, pull and reaching.
