MBS is in urgent need of a Manufacturing Engineer in Batavia, OH. This position is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity.
Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for a key role in the production of electronic printed circuit board assemblies. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, production staff, and management. The Manufacturing Engineer will be dedicated to the sustaining and improvement of all aspects of production processes.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for being the process expert and point of contact for all PCBA manufacturing operations.
- Prototype or Initial Run production: Observe, analyze, and enhance each process step from beginning to end. Establish and/or modify process steps as needed to implement improvements to create an efficient and effective process.
- Sign-off validation (New Product Evaluation Form) for each new prototype after confirming each process operation to capture all relevant and pertinent data required for process optimization.
- Review and approve PCB layouts and answer PCB supplier EQ’s (Engineering Questions).
- Oversee the creation of all SMT reflow oven profiles. Establish/Create fixtures and jigs utilizing internal equipment and tools (3D printer, shop equipment, hand tools, etc.). Coordinate with production, quality, & external suppliers to define the necessary requirements (customer or internal) to ensure concise and efficient process operations.
- Create programs for the router machine.
- Create profiles for the solder rework station.
- Coordinate with the quality department to enhance the AOI programming capabilities to reduce false calls and improve accuracy and efficiency. Assist in program files organization for best efficiency.
- Coordinate with the quality department to enhance the ICT programming capabilities. Assist in program files organization for best efficiency.
- Update SAP MRP system to capture process improvements to ensure they are implemented on future builds and similar related assemblies.
- Collaborate with program management, quoting, production, and quality to provide feedback for manufacturability of a given layout.
- Establish control and measurement of critical process steps in accordance with parameters set by the customer or the quality department.
- Work closely with the quality department to evaluate process issues at any point in production and establish corrective actions.
- Monitor the reject area and work closely with the production and quality teams when processes are deemed out of control.
- Write work procedures and create training videos as needed. Provide expert technical advice for the process area respectively.
- Actively participate in production and process meetings to provide input & technical expertise.
- Assist in the evaluation of new process equipment, tools, and process methods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required.
Education: The Manufacturing Engineer should have a four-year technical degree or equivalent experience (at least seven years performing manufacturing engineering duties)
Experience: Seven years’ experience in electronics manufacturing process engineering
Waiver: An applicant may fill this position without meeting all qualifications with review and approval of the ownership group.
Other: The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to interact with people in a positive manner; the ability to investigate and solve problems; the ability to maintain a positive and professional relationship with vendors, co-workers, and departments; have good organizational skills; be willing to work in a Team environment.
