Position Summary

Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including but not limited to, installing electrical conduit and

wiring, diagnosis, and continued maintenance and calibration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently install, configure, test, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, maintain and inspect transmitters, pressure and level controllers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFD), control circuits, and programmable logic controller (PLC) operations.
  • Identify and analyze failures, indicate underlying issue, and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis as necessary.
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical, electronic and pneumatic components on gas processing units (GPU), generator control panel and units, pump units, ignition systems, and burner management systems.
  • Ensure proper Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and safely isolate and de-energize equipment before performing work.
  • Understand and identify areas of improvement by incorporating the principles of operation of all meters and instruments used in I&E, such as, digital multi-meters, pressure calibrators, temperature calibrators like resistance temperature detector (RTD) and thermocouples (TC), RS232, RS485 communications, and 475 Hart communicator.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, sketches, and specs to make recommendations for I&E installations and projects.
  • Routinely perform preventive maintenance. Accurately record all work orders, updates, maintenance and repair of equipment utilizing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Assist in control system layout, design, and reviews to ensure current design support operations.
  • Build, inspect, test, and modify both new and existing control panels for proper function and application.
  • Read and interpret Product Service Manuals (PSM) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to assist with planning and assigned tasks, estimating costs, and properly documenting job specifics and results.
  • Stay current on all new equipment and technical trends in electronics, communication and automation systems. Incorporate and adjust to the changes to designs, equipment, systems, etc.
  • Follow all the Safety, Health, and Environmental policies, procedures, and requirements, ensuring personal safety, safety of others, and safety of the surrounding area.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Licensure

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of Instrumentation & Electrical experience.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.


Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Four (4) years of Instrumentation & Electrical or related technical Oilfield experience.
  • Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics or related Certification.
  • Journeyman Electrician License.

Required Core Competencies – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of process control, piping and instrument diagrams, signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, one-line drawings, loop sheets and wire lists.
  • Functional knowledge of SCADA system set up and understanding of how to add or remove devices in the system.
  • Technical ability to diagnose flow computers and interpret gas analysis.
  • Good understanding and application of Emerson software, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc. and use/operation of standard office equipment.
  • Safety minded with utmost concern for well-being of others.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with others internally and externally.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills. Ability to identify, isolate, and repair equipment or issues.
  • Able to be detail oriented, self-starter, and work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining goals and tasks.
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills to analyze information and choose the best solution.
  • Good collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position may be subject to:

  • Extreme cold: temperatures typically below 32o F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind and humidity.
  • Extreme heat: temperatures above 100o F for periods of more than one hour.
  • Noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals.
  • Exposure to high voltage electricity.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee will regularly lift, push, carry and/or move 25-50 pounds.
  • Be able to regularly bend, stoop, crouch, etc.
  • Frequent amount of traversing through challenging terrain to evaluate project sites, conditions, manually inspect slopes or perform work.

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel may be required to other locations.
  • Frequent travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximately 80%.
