BOILER SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Status: Current
Department: Maintenance
Classification: Non-Exempt
Location: Unalaska
Summary of Position
Provide mechanical maintenance as directed by the operations supervisor, having a strong background in repairs of commercial and residential boilers including but not limited to preventative maintenance and repairs (from foundation to roof) of structures on developed and undeveloped land owned by the Ounalashka Corporation. The Maintenance Technician may lead and participate in the work of the crew and is responsible for ensuring safe and careful operation of hand tools, power hand tools, and equipment and general work practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintaining boiler systems, overseeing maintenance, enforcing safety protocols, and adjusting controls.
- Performing routine maintenance on boilers and associated equipment.
- Keeping service and repair logs, communicating with customers or organizations, performing preventative checks on equipment, and promoting efficiency.
- Mechanical skills and systems knowledge to keep boilers functioning properly and ensure the safety of business.
- Perform troubleshooting and alignments, adjust parameters.
- Complete work orders for advance items
- Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity.
- Preventive and predictive maintenance
- General PMs
- Environmental checks
- Assist Facilities Maintenance Technicians with tasks including:
Minor building maintenance
Mechanical rebuilds (dust collection, gear boxes, pneumatic/hydraulic cylinders)
Piping systems, burners and HVAC units
- Other duties as assigned
Performs other related work as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills.
Work in extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods of time; ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, lifting objects up to 45 pounds, and walking through rough terrain.
Consistently keep accurate records.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, supervisors, and the general public.
Plan, implement and verify the quality of work in the finished product, ability to track costs and to create cost reports on projects.
Must have or have the ability to obtain and retain a valid Alaska Driver’s License before starting work as well as possess and maintain a good driving record free of any DUI or other major driving infractions.
Minimum Experience Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Boiler Certification preferred.
3-5 years related experience in maintenance boiler operation.
Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the building trades.
