Tax Manager - R&D

As our firm continues to grow, we are looking for an R&D Tax Manager who strives to perform at a high level of service. Under minimal supervision, this individual can work independently and is a strong self-starter.

The R&D Tax Manager manages the R&D tax credits and incentives for our diverse client base. This includes assessing client eligibility for R&D tax credits, managing client relationships, and providing expert tax advice. This individual is also responsible for coordinating engagement workflow, managing staff, and is the liaison between the partner, client, and staff. This position envisions growth that will provide an opportunity to become a partner in the firm.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and deliver R&D services to clients, including tax credit calculation, claim preparation, and advisory services:
  • Conduct tax credit and studies through client interviews, reviewing client data, developing tools and templates to be used and preparing technical reports
  • Consult on inventory and revenue, expense recognition, DPAD, and transaction cost analysis
  • Create technical plans related to R&D/accounting method matters
  • Provide audit defense assistance for clients
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships on various tax consulting/compliance engagements
• Manage engagements and ensure client service delivery exceeds expectations
• Keep up-to-date with current R&D tax practices and changes in tax law
• Meet with clients and prospective clients to discuss their engagement needs and questions; analyze issues and identify additional services
• Review work completed by other staff
• Delegate and manage workflow, engagements, and projects to ensure timely completion
• Manage, develop, mentor, and train staff
• Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax issues; make recommendations
• Manage client relationships; demonstrate the desire to be an intricate part of business development and marketing strategies
• Market firm services to existing and prospective clients
  

Ideal Manager candidate has:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or other related field from a four-year college or university
• CPA is preferred
• 5+ years’ experience of work in R&D federal tax related work in a public accounting firm or corporate taxation experience
