Position Overview

Responsible for ensuring the Academy program is a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment for each child. Has the ability to jump into any situation in need of extra attention in the program setting. This position has a variety of responsibilities; the need to be flexible is extremely important and always willing to help out in any situation.


Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or comparable
  • Previous experience in an early childhood educational program. A minimum of 1 years of teaching experience in an early childhood or elementary education setting.
  • Ability to relate to parents of preschoolers and communicate effectively with staff, co-workers and families
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and dedication to meeting the needs of early child children and their families
  • Proficient in providing quality care to a variety of aged children (birth – 5 years of age) As well as staffing and continuing to strive for 100% enrollment
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport with staff, parents and children
  • Ability to be extremely flexible and take direction from a variety of staff members
  • Subscribe to and affirm the Statement of Faith and Covenant of Wooddale Church

Responsibilities

  • Ability to be to work on time, assist in classroom set-up, creative a positive environment with a positive attitude
  • Ability to assist with a classroom of early childhood children (in ratio)
  • Ability to be flexible, positive and multi-task in the classroom environment
  • Implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans that Lead Teacher has prepared
  • Establish and implement positive, appropriate and consistent boundaries with children
  • Sets up and takes down classroom as needed, keeping a tidy, interesting area at all times
  • Returns materials in a timely respectful, organized manner
  • Maintains positive, respectful relationships with parents and partners together in their child’s educational development

Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Wooddale Academy Site Director
  • Coordinates and cooperates with other church staff and departments as needed
