Summer Program Camp Counselor (Summer STEAM Camp 2024)

RAFT is seeking a Camp Counselor who enjoys working with kids. We will look to you to help campers feel safe and inspired to make the most of their camp experience. You will work under the facilitators’ supervision and support campers’ learning activities. 

You will leverage your experience working with young kids to further RAFT’s mission to bring the joy of learning to campers through hands-on STEAM project kits. By joining this summer program, you will be eligible to join our professional development training designed for young professionals interested in pursuing careers in teaching.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily hands-on activity set-up and cleanup activities.
• Support teachers in guiding campers' focus during learning activities and facilitating smooth transitions between tasks.
• Supervise outdoor activities and safety.
• Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among campers.
• Ensure an organized space by replenishing consumable supplies.
• Ability to be a positive role model and mentor to inspire campers towards STEM career journey.
• Participate in at least 9 hours of onboarding training, professional development, and staff meetings before camp starts.
• Be attentive to campers' and staff needs and assist them as issues arise.
• Participate in after-camp debrief.
• Other related activities as needed.

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Genuine interest and experience in working with young children in childcare/education environment.

• Can commit at 2-4 consecutive weeks from 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
• Flexible and adaptable to meet changing needs in the learning environment. 
• Proactive in solving problems.
• Enthusiastic and reliable team player.
• Strong professional skills to fulfill required training and assigned tasks with excellence.
• Obtain a TB Risk Assessment & Fingerprint clearance (RAFT will cover the cost).

Education and/or Experience:       

• Upper high school or college student.
• Previous experience as a camp counselor. 
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
