Lead Software Engineer

General Summary: 

The Lead Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping the technological landscape of the Company. This role will build and lead a team of skilled engineers in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that streamline and optimize our processes.

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday, 8AM - 5PM

Location: The ideal candidate for this role will be local, as this is intended to be a long-term leadership role. This role will work remote, but is expected to occasionally report to our Irvine, CA headquarters for collaborative planning and team meetings. 

Salary Range:  

• $160,000 - $190,000 depending on experience  

Essential Duties:  

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to determine our technical direction for the various applications and services that will power the Company 

• Act as both a technical leader and a people leader, helping inspire other engineers to grow personally and professionally 

• Help design and architect our systems, keeping both quick iteration as well as future scale in mind 

• Lead the software development lifecycle, from conceptualization to deployment, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical specifications 

• Architect and design innovative software solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes 

• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating relevant advancements into our software development practices 

• Drive initiatives to improve software development processes, tools, and methodologies, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence 

• Proactively identify and address technical challenges and bottlenecks, collaborating with team members to implement effective solutions 

• Champion best practices for software engineering, including coding standards, documentation, testing, and version control 

• Collaborate with Executive Leadership and key stakeholders within the organization, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes, while delivering on expressed organizational needs 

• Other duties and initiatives as assigned  

Knowledge and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred 

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience 

• 3+ years in a technical lead role 

Skills and Abilities:

• Experience creating data pipelines and an understanding of how to curate data from applications to ensure its actionable by business users 

• Experience in designing/architecting distributed systems; confidence in making decisions and setting architectural direction 

• Strong proficiency in programming languages, as well as modern frameworks and libraries 

• In-depth knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices 

• Experience with cloud computing platforms  

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for tackling technical challenges in a fast-paced environment 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders 

• Experience in the financial services industry or debt settlement domain is a plus 

• Knowledge of the majority of our primary systems/software, including:  

• Python, NodeJs (Javascript/Typescript), Ruby (RoR), Snowflake, Azure, Heroku, Github
