Job Summary:
As a Cook and Break Person at Wonderland Children's Academy, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the children in our care. Your responsibilities will include preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the children, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and assisting with daily breaks and mealtime routines.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
- Plan and prepare balanced and age-appropriate meals and snacks for children.
- Ensure that all meals meet the dietary guidelines and food safety standards.
- Accommodate any special dietary requirements or allergies of the children.
Kitchen Management:
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment and utensils are in good working condition.
- Manage inventory of food and kitchen supplies, and order as needed.
Menu Planning:
- Develop weekly or monthly menus, taking into consideration variety and nutritional value.
- Collaborate with the daycare director or nutritionist to create menus that meet dietary guidelines.
Hygiene and Safety:
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.
- Monitor food storage and labeling to prevent spoilage or contamination.
- Educate and enforce good hygiene practices among staff and children during mealtime.
Break Assistance:
- Assist with supervising children during breaks and mealtime.
- Foster a positive and engaging environment during meal and snack times.
- Encourage good eating habits and social interactions among the children.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cooking for children or in a daycare setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of child nutrition and dietary needs is preferred.
- Food handling and safety certification is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Agility and dexterity in the kitchen.
Working Hours:
.6:45 am to 3:30 pm
Monday - Friday
