Join our family as we work together to support our community.

Family Service teachers (including Substitutes and Floaters) delivers the classroom curriculum, for a single-session classroom for 4 and 5 year old children as part of our Head Start program while ensuring Federal & State regulations and guidelines are followed.

Family Service also provides wrap-around services to our children and families for various needs our community may need. We call this "addressing the social determinants of health". We do this by providing services through a trauma-informed care lens.

Our teachers, maintain supervision of children and build positive relationships with the children and families, focus on positive communication, and providing positive strengths based discipline and guidance.

Family Service has multiple Head Start locations throughout the Northside ISD, Pilgrim Head Start, Live Oak Head Start, and Carmelite Head Start. Preference of location (based on availability) will be taken into consideration.

*The Teacher I Substitute and Floater will be required to assist in various Head Start classrooms and/or centers as assigned, and moves from classroom to classroom or center to center as needed and directed.

Education/Training/Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with eighteen (18) hours in Early Childhood Education. Family Service also has Associate Teacher opportunities that require an Associates Degree. Please visit our job page to learn more.

2. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.

3. Previous educational classroom experience and able to utilize various learning techniques in the successful delivery of curricula.

4. Fluent in English and Spanish or other languages that represent the needs of our children and families (read, write, and speak) desirable
