This highly visible position is the Manufacturing Facility at our Harrisonville, MO location provides leadership to the Quality Department to ensure adherence to company quality requirements and standards. This individual supervises the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products. This position interfaces with corporate Research & Development on product and processing test applications and reports to the Quality Control Supervisor.

2-2-3 Rotation, 6am - 6pm (2 Openings)

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for always for promoting a safety culture and safety awareness within their area of responsibility. Always support all plant and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Support finished and semi-finished product laboratory analytical testing, using required test equipment or instrumentation according to corporate test methods and/or department test requirements. Ensure laboratory test equipment meets operating needs, including standardization and calibration.
  • Work with the Quality Control Supervisor and Lead Quality Lab Technician to determine priority of samples.
  • Perform technical analysis and coordinate with Lab Tech II's to initiate corrective action and/or communication for high-priority issues such as Out of Specifications or raw material defects ensuring Hold Process and WMS Status changes are performed.
  • Review all testing data reported into Data Disclosure database and via batch sheet for accuracy.
  • Support the incoming raw material inspection, retain, and disposal programs.
  • Support Lab Tech II's in Maintaining necessary database requirements for MES Weights, Print and Apply, and Pallet Patterns.
  • Support Six Sigma program initiatives.
  • Support reviewing and updating lab documents, procedures, manuals, and files.
  • Follow GLP requirements for the safe handling of chemicals and analytical testing, including use of PPE.
  • Support PTR (Plant Trial requests), Technical Transfer, and other plant/corporate meetings, as needed.
  • Create, review, and approve COAs for WIP (Work-In-Process) material. (For example: LUD, LLD, Oxi Powder, Scent Booster, and Blue Salt)
  • Support capability analysis.
  • Attend Root Cause Analysis groups and support CAPA events.
  • Operate laboratory computer, analytical test instruments and systems, including calibrations as needed.
  • Document and maintain test results, audit information, procedures, logs, and specifications using appropriate data or file maintenance systems, in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Assist and investigate non-chemical material issues that occur on the manufacturing floor.
  • Maintain and foster positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Utilize a positive problem-solving process that enables issues to be resolved in a positive inclusive manner.
  • Assist in maintaining finished product sample retain area.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers.
  • Maintain good laboratory practices for the safe and proper handling & disposal of chemicals.
  • Perform cleaning and housekeeping tasks for both the laboratory environment and testing equipment.
  • Be a resource for implementing, executing, and maintaining the principles of lean manufacturing such as 5S, etc.
  • Support monitoring laboratory supply inventory to ensure department resource needs are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain all required facility training expectations.
  • Assist in lab coverage when necessary.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel preferred
  • Good organizational/time management skills required
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work for long periods of time, under pressure, to produce results
  • Basic chemical and mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrate ambiguity to change
  • Must be able to read & understand materials & products specifications in English. Upon training, must be able to work with laboratory instrumentation
  • Ability to take and follow directions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Karl Fisher and/or HPLCs a plus
  • WMS, SAP, Oracle program knowledge a plus
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years experience in a lab or testing environment using wet chemistry procedures required.
