Quality Engineer - Military (Direct Hire Position) Overview: We are seeking a Quality Engineer with a focus on military manufacturing. This role involves supporting manufacturing quality, conducting quality training, and performing quality testing specifically for products manufactured under military contracts. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive plant-wide training programs, conducting statistical analysis to identify nonconformities, implementing corrective actions, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives across various organizational processes such as New Product Introduction (NPI) validation, test validation plan creation, work instruction review, inspection/sampling plan establishment, and the development or acquisition of new inspection equipment. Ideal Candidate Profile: Expertise in mechanical and/or optical inspection techniques and equipment. Proficient understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and standards. Extensive experience with multi-stage manufacturing processes. Solid background in quality system enhancement, including Internal Auditing and Training development. In-depth knowledge and experience with military specifications and contracts. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the development and maintenance of the quality management system. Participate in the creation and revision of military contract documentation and standards for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Facilitate first article inspections and coordinate with engineering and inspection teams. Develop and implement detailed training programs for both hourly and salaried employees to enhance overall quality awareness. Analyze failures, corrective actions, and preventive measures to ensure efficient resolution of internal and external audits. Support ammunition testing and coordinate with Quality Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) personnel and internal teams to ensure product compliance with contractual requirements. Engage in continuous improvement activities such as 5S and Kaizen lean methods, based on insights gathered from data analysis. Work closely with the Supply Chain to manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and CAPAs. Conduct test requirement analysis and generate comprehensive test reports. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, mechanical, manufacturing engineering) or equivalent experience. 5 – 7+ years of experience in roles directly related to Military Contracts. Proficient in quality tools (FMEA, Gauge R&R, SPC, etc.) and problem-solving/root cause analysis techniques. Familiarity with ISO 9001 / TS-16949 standards. Ability to interpret technical drawings and a solid understanding of GD&T. Knowledge of statistical methods and the application of statistical tools. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, statistical software, and MRP systems. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. Willingness to travel domestically up to 15%. ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification, familiarity with ITAR, ATF, EAR, and Oracle software are advantageous.
