Summary: This role is in the Chicago-based Corporate Accounting team with responsibilities that include preparing monthly, quarterly, and year end schedules and reconciliations; assisting in the preparation of internal and external financial statements; assisting with data for financial statement disclosures; analyzing and recording recurring, non-recurring and/or technically complex business transactions; assisting in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of accounting policies and procedures; and assisting with various accounting projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual closing procedures
  • Prepare journal entries and gather support for recurring, non-recurring and/or technically complex accounting transactions
  • Prepare account reconciliations and complete analytical reviews of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of transactions and balances
  • Support consolidation process of financial information with the use of consolidation tool
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and complete supporting analysis and reports
  • Support year end audits completed by external auditor firms
  • Participate in the continuous development and strengthening of internal controls
  • Participate in and lead special projects as needed
  • Assist with establishing, implementing and documenting policies and procedures
  • Utilize computer applications to compile, retrieve and summarize accounting information for analyses and reporting purposes


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Demonstrated technical accounting and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated skill in completing and recording financial transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and document information for financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Demonstrated proficiency using accounting software and highly skilled in Microsoft Excel
  • High level of organization and ability to manage to deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification (or in the process of obtaining certification)
  • Combination of public accounting and industry
  • Demonstrated ability to be versatile and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to providing excellence in client service and a demonstrated ability of producing high quality results
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
