General Summary: Provides direction for and shapes the liberal arts General Education curriculum, with special focus on the global and inclusive leadership curricular initiatives that inform the SUMMIT curriculum, including signature high impact experiences. Maintains robust connections between Agnes Scott and the broader higher ed community, keeping the SUMMIT experience informed by best practices in higher education, and promoting Agnes Scott's innovative experiences. Reports to the vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Oversees the design and implementation of the SUMMIT general education curriculum, inclusive of universal high impact experiences and of SUMMIT student learning outcomes in the majors. Works with faculty stakeholders and within the shared governance structure to revise and evolve curriculum.
  2. Supervises and provides vision for the Center for Global Learning and the Assistant Dean of Inclusive Leadership, as well as for the student learning support Centers and chairs the Academic Assessment Committee.
  3. Monitors and engages external environments for both awareness of best practices and trends in innovative undergraduate education, and for promotion of the Agnes Scott SUMMIT experience.
  4. Manages key projects and opportunities that arise related to SUMMIT curricular priorities.
  5. Works with Advancement to identify and cultivate partners who can advance goals related to SUMMIT curriculum and experiences.
  6. Coordinates with the VPAA/Dean of College and Finance and Administration to manage overall expenditures related to SUMMIT initiatives, and manages the SUMMIT office budget.
  7. Leads assessment of SUMMIT and its components.

REQUIREMENTS Updated March 11, 2024

Education: Doctorate, or terminal master's degree.

Experience: Significant experience from an accredited institution in curricular design/review/implementation; a successful record of operational or project management experience; proven ability to develop and implement new initiatives; and experience managing resources wisely. Experience teaching at a college level plus faculty status. Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a capacity to communicate passionately and knowledgeably.
  • Academic expertise, or equivalent experience, that demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of global learning and/or leadership development, post-graduate success, and educational innovation.
  • Record of successful conference presentations and scholarship.
  • Broad working knowledge of leadership in practice.
  • Resourceful, creative, entrepreneurial, and visionary spirit.
  • Strategic and flexible thinking.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity in its many forms.
  • Proactive, effective, and efficient experience partnering with internal and external constituents and in cultivating relationships.

  • Fundraising and/or grant-writing experience.

Physical Demands

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
