JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Staff Accountant, you will work closely with the accounting team to assist in maintaining and preparing the company’s finances. You will report to the Controller and will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to preparing and maintaining financial records to track the company’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Determine the most efficient and effective approach to meeting deadlines and accomplish priorities under limited direction using initiative, judgment, and accounting knowledge.
  2. Files monthly, quarterly, annual sales and use taxes returns.
  3. File annual Property Tax return and assists with tax planning and filing annual corporate tax return.
  4. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries such as prepaid expense amortization, expense accruals and allocations, fixed asset additions and depreciation, daily banking.
  5. Perform month-end closing tasks, including journal entries, monthly reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  6. Research, process and review AP, AR, and accounting transactions.
  7. Complete daily and weekly reporting functions and maintain contract records.
  8. Reconcile General Ledger balance to subsidiary ledgers, and research and correct discrepancies.
  9. Ensure processes, transactions, and balances are recorded in compliance with accounting/finance policies.
  10. Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, and multi-line phones.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend and evening work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Little to no travel is expected for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE

  • CPA or CMA preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of related experience or
  • Any similar combination of education and experience

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  1. Experience in the aviation industry
  2. Experience with Quantum
