Wilkes University invites applicants for a Master Electrician / Lighting and Sound Designer; a full-time, salaried, 12-month position in the Division of Performing Arts. The Division of Performing Arts offers a BFA in Musical Theatre, a BA in Theatre Arts, and a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology, as well as minors in Music, Theatre, and Dance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising lighting hangs, focus, load-ins and load-outs; training and managing student crews; maintaining inventory of lighting and sound equipment; creating sound design and providing sound support for theatre productions, music concerts, dance concerts and lectures in the Darte Center for the Performing Arts; recruiting students to the Theatre Design and Technology major; and providing occasional technical support for additional events in the Darte Center. There is also the possibility of teaching 2-3 courses per year, if qualified, for additional compensation. The successful candidate will also be responsible for creating lighting and sound designs for two ballet productions produced by the Wilkes University Conservatory; additional lighting and sound design opportunities may be available, depending on interest and expertise.

Candidates with an MFA are preferred; candidates with a BFA/BA with significant professional experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will have prior master electrician experience in both professional and University settings; experience training and supervising student master electricians; familiarity with digital sound boards, digital sound and video recording, generation and editing software, and sound reinforcement using wireless microphones; and excellent communication, problem-solving and time-management skills.
