Carrollwood Farms- Grounds Keeper

Are you someone who loves making a mark on the landscape, working with nature, maintaining and creating landscapes and their features?

If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you! Carrollwood Farms is a sprawling two-thousand-plus acre estate farm in North Carolina’s northern Piedmont and we are looking for a groundskeeper to shape and maintain existing and yet to-be-created landscapes, including yards, road edges, trails, and other farm features.

Primary duties include mowing, weeding, cleaning debris after storms, watering, building and maintaining trails, working with saws and chippers, occasional light carpentry or painting and/or working with livestock and gardens and orchards. Full-time, year-round employment available for the right person.

Most of the work is ground-based but there could be occasional equipment usage. Clean driving record is important for this position, as are safe driving skills.

Groundskeeper Job Duties (briefly stated):

• Maintaining lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, turf, and irrigation.
• Fertilizing lawn, trees, flowers and shrubs, and spreading mulch.
• Trimming trees, hedges, and shrubs, and preventing and eliminating weeds.
• Operating and maintaining hand tools, such as loppers, saws and shovels efficiently.
• Operating and maintaining trucks and gators and power tools.
• Utilizing insecticides, fertilizers, and chemical sprays to treat diseases including the use of sprayers
• Keeping grounds free from trash, litter, and debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Conducting basic irrigation audits and performing basic irrigation repairs.

Groundskeeper Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
• 4+ years of groundskeeping or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficient in using manual and power tools safely.
• Free from allergies that interfere with Groundskeeper duties.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Proficient with sending emails.
• Of paramount importance is an infectious enthusiasm for creating positive change and being part of a dynamic team.
