General Duties & Functions

  • Troubleshoot and execute repairs of equipment contributing to safety, quality, downtime, and productivity opportunities and issues.
  • Plant lead on lubrication of all machines during preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain inventory of oil and grease including selecting, ordering, and storage.
  • Communicate findings, identify root causes, and corrective steps to maintenance leadership.
  • Develop proactive maintenance plans including oil analysis, automatic lubrication, and condition monitoring systems on new and existing assets.
  • Log all condition maintenance activities found in CMMS.
  • Execute assigned or scheduled work order in CMMS in a safe and timely manner.
  • Support innovation related activities.
  • Interpret, analyze results from oil analysis, and build action plans for correcting identified issues.
  • Assists maintenance technicians with predictive maintenance tasks and training.
  • Analyze CMMS data to improve OEE and reduce equipment downtime
  • Maintain calibration certificates for all PdM measuring tools.
  • Create reports for all findings from oil analysis program.
  • Discover methods of improving efficiency and ensure quality standards, as an individual and part of a team
  • Communicate with other shifts, operators, and technicians to give and receive updates on equipment status.
  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems and equipment collecting equipment performance data for early diagnosis of potential system and/or equipment malfunction.
  • Communicate specific nature of equipment repair and recovery, along with causes, to appropriate management and operations personnel.
  • Maintain accurate service records so the performance of equipment can be monitored for improved performance.
  • Rebuild, repair, and reassemble machines and equipment.
  • Communicate required supply of essential spare parts.
  • Review OEM recommended spare parts and ensure we have them stocked.
  • Participate in daily reactive downtime meetings. Review lubrication related finding and determine root cause and implement permanent corrective action.
  • Determine correct oils and greases required for all of our assets.
  • Assist in measurement maintenance inspections.
  • Assist as needed in preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assist in LOTO procedures to ensure safety during all machine related activities.
  • Engage personal performance to achieve and retain high-performance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of power transmission components-bearings, pulleys/sheaves, shafts/rollers, couplings, sprockets, chains, belts, pumps, motors and gearboxes
  • Must be able to read blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Possesses knowledge of industrial maintenance systems, equipment controls and safety circuits
  • Willingness/ability to attend formal training courses to learn current PdM technologies and software
  • Must possess good communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, excellent visual skills for accessing functionality of equipment, above basic mathematical skills and reasoning ability
  • Knowledge of OSHA Requirements to include electrical safety, machine guarding, confined space and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Basic working knowledge of computer software and MS office
  • Experience with operating fork lift
  • Ability to operate with speed and accuracy
  • Demonstrates team spirit, shows flexibility and positive attitude as an active team contributor
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills, is able to recognize and appropriately escalate issues when situations arise
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-hire basic skills tests and assessments
  • Ability to successfully pass pre-employment background check, physical exam and drug screening
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited community, technical or vocational college preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of multi-craft experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean / process improvement tools experience and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area
  • Experience with ultrasound, IR, oil analysis and precision alignment and/or advancing knowledge in these areas

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout assigned working hours
  • Frequent reaching, grasping, bending, and stooping
  • Must be able to tolerate odor from raw materials, freshly cured tires and hot materials
  • Frequent pulling and/or pushing up to 20 lbs independently, and occasional pushing and/or pulling up to 35 lb independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs independently, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs independently, and greater weights with mechanical automation assistance
  • Must be able to frequently engage in repetitive motions requiring substantial movement of the wrist, hands and/or fingers
  • Adequate vision to read work instructions, job aids and guides, and detect imperfections in raw materials, tooling and finished product
  • Ability to work in environment with limited climate control and varied temperature levels
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in an environment with continual noise, requiring the ability to hear, understand and communicate work instructions and directions while wearing company provided hearing protection
  • Must be able to be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment mechanical equipment and vibration
