GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Responsible for operating manually controlled lathes and machining centers to produce finished products from rough castings.


Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Franklin Electric Quality System.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and materials to Production Supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Meets daily production schedule as assigned.
  • Operates a manual controlled lathe or machining center to produce finished products from rough castings.
  • Monitors machine performance to ensure consistent dimensioning of parts produced and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Perform required quality checks on completed parts to ensure specifications are met.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Skills and Abilities
  • Works with hand tools.
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Utilizes common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Provides accurate work on a consistent basis meeting precise tolerances and standards.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work closely with others on a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work environment performing a variety of frequently changing tasks.
  • Completes some moderately repetitive tasks.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
  • Completion of a trade school or equivalent completing certificate in CNC Machines (preferred).
  • 3 years or more experience working in a manufacturing type position (preferred).

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
  1. Continually required to stand; reach to full extension; and grip with fingers.
  2. Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50lbs.; push or pull; walk; bend or twist; use upper extremities; operate knobs, levers, or cranks by hand; actuate foot control; and forcefully grip.
  3. Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75lbs.; sit; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, or ramps; reach above shoulders.
  • The employee must continually lift or move up to 32lbs.
  •  Specific vision abilities required by this job include regular peripheral viewing; viewing length changes; close viewing with depth perception; and occasional distance viewing.
  •  Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the need to perceive the spoken voice clearly and the need to hear warning signals up to 70dbs with or without assistance.
  • Specific speech abilities regularly required by this job include comprehensible speech.
