Job Description

This position is responsible for the monitoring and improvement of product quality in the Melt Shop Department in order to achieve the product attributes necessary to meet the goals of North American Stainless.

This position will from time to time be assigned other responsibilities pursuant to increasing through put and cutting costs in the above areas.

This position will also have interaction with the Cost of Quality Engineer - Yield, in a joint effort to improve overall plant yield. Also included in the scope are the projects based on |NAS/Acerinox group business improvement goals.

DUTIES

Review all aspects of quality in the assigned areas and insure that established goals are set for all product lines.

Review all aspects of quality to insure that North American Stainless is producing an acceptable product at the lowest possible cost and meeting internal and external customer deliveries on time.

Track the quality of all product lines to insure that it is acceptable and that North American Stainless is achieving continuous improvement based on quality and productivity.

Review existing Work Instructions to see that they adequately describe the actions necessary to produce an acceptable product.

Initiate continuous improvement projects and review the progress.

Initiate corrective and preventative actions to prevent and minimize the reoccurrences of problems.

Initiate team efforts when possible to assist with various quality improvement projects.

Use the team concept to train personnel in team building, consensus building and problem solving.

Review any New Product or Major Product/ Process Change Forms that are submitted from the areas of assigned responsibilities to insure that any change does not adversely impact quality.

Track all New Product or Major Product/ Process Changes to see that they are done within the Quality System.

Make sure all Health, Safety, and Environmental concerns are addressed.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of a 4 year technical degree from an approved University/ College (BS/BA)
And/or work experience necessary to perform the position.
