Production Machinist 

OVERALL POSITION FUNCTION
Perform all tasks related to setup and safe operation of machining equipment in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment.  Responsible for writing and editing CNC code, selecting tooling, and inspecting results of work.  Duties will include operating several pieces of equipment at the same time.  All work is done in accordance to documented procedures, work standards, industry practices, and the Company employee handbook.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/FUNCTIONAL TASKS
• Use of measuring equipment, and ability to measure accurately.
• Perform product specific math, and understand cartesian coordinates, EIA code, and operation of CNC equipment.
• Programming, Setup and operation of lathes and milling machines. 
• Selection of speeds and feeds to ensure efficient and safe operation of production tasks.
• Documentation of quality inspection and labor records in accordance with procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend a job traveller, with all specific and pertinent details for each production order.
• Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, and to translate drawings in to viable machining and manufacturing plans.
• Design, manufacture, and implement modifications to work holding methods to securely retain product through manufacturing operations.
• Basic maintenance of work area in a clean and orderly manner, relying heavily on 5S practices.
• May involve fork truck operation, with approval and licensing through internal programs.
• Other duties as assigned to support production and facility goals.

• Competence and mastery of assigned work tasks
• Production Utilization and efficiency on both an individual and production area basis
• On time delivery of the production area and facility
• Quality as measured in both customer returns and internal product scrap rates
• Attendance and Punctuality

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY
• Ability to comprehend engineering drawings, and operate machines in three-dimensional space.
• Must have prior machining experience, with CNC milling, including editing & creating programs.
• Ability to work both individually and as a part of a team.
• Must be detail oriented, quality conscious, and willing to make decisions to support the organizations positive quality reputation.
• Ability to learn and retain new tasks and operations, and step between various duties in the job description seamlessly.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must comply with all company policies.
• Must supply and maintain their own safety shoes
• Must meet position overtime requirements as schedule demands

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position works a 8 to 9 hour work day, 5 days per week, in a non-stationary shop environment.  Duties involve standing and walking, and lifting product between 30 and 60 pounds.  Tables, lift carts, fork trucks, and cranes are available as needed.
