Position: Election Clerk 

Location: Honolulu, HI 

Pay: $17/hr 

Experience: Minimum of 6 months customer service experience required

Education: High school diploma or GED

Type: Full-time; Contract 

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Saturdays as needed)

  

Staffing Solutions of Hawaii is seeking a Election Clerk to join a growing and dynamic team!  

 

Job Description: 

• Answers public inquiries on matters relating to voter registration, absentee voting, elective offices up for elections, city and state government operations, etc.
• Gathers all incoming voter registration applications from various public and private agencies, checking for completeness
• Enters information from various source documents to add, delete, and update voter registration record; Audits data against source documents and makes corrections when necessary
• Assists Voter Service Center (VSC) voters who need help in completing the application for a ballot or need information on voting or candidates
• Issues the proper district and precinct ballots based on what is recorded on the VSC application
• Explains the single party primary election system to voters who are not familiar with the requirement that only one party or nonpartisan ballot be selected for voting
• Assists voters who have spoiled their ballots and need new ones; controls voter traffic
• Checks each request for an absentee ballot against the Statewide Voter Registration System to see that the voter is registered to vote and at the residence address indicated on the request; properly issue replacement ballots as needed
• Sorts and arranges ballot return envelopes received via postal system or ballot drop box collections
• Assists in collection and management of voted mail ballots at various regionally located drop boxes placed throughout the county

Position Requirements: 

• Alpha-numeric data entry experience preferred
• Fluent in Ilocano and Chinese a plus!
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in varying temperatures
• Able to type 35 wpm with accuracy and utilize Microsoft Office
• Must also be able to comprehend and follow instructions, meeting deadlines as required
