Summary:

Responsible for all daily maintenance activities for Ivanpah Solar Thermal. This includes responsibility for all maintenance functions, outage efforts, and planning work. The position requires the development of fully planned work packages including duration, engineered drawings, vendor parts lists, stock materials listings, owner's manuals and coordination of necessary resources. Also responsible for implementation, and administration of the maintenance strategy in support of the Station's Business Plan. The successful candidate will support and satisfy station operations department priorities as identified during weekly planning meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve the overall effectiveness of the station safety program by providing leadership setting example and enforcement of policies, including disciplinary actions. Support the implementation of the NRG Energy Safety procedures and policies.
  • Maintaining station reliability. This requires making decisions, updating and formulating maintenance strategies on a continuous basis.
  • Provide overall direction to plant personnel and contractor maintenance work activities to ensure timely and satisfactory job completion within budget and schedule limitations (this includes routine, forced, and scheduled work activities).
  • Provide leadership and direction to the implementation of the Work Management System (SAP) as the enabler to the maintenance process.
  • Developing and drafting written maintenance plans for weekly and outage maintenance scheduling.
  • Determining and arranging for resources such as supplies, materials, parts and special tools or equipment required to perform maintenance inspections and/or work. Interpreting technical manuals, sketches, prints, instructions, manufacturer's data and equipment history records in developing plans.
  • Determining priority, cost, manpower and time estimates, re-evaluating estimates to reflect changing job requirements and preparing job sequence requirements for major plant projects and for specific maintenance work.
  • Accumulating and analyzing data on actual versus estimated time, equipment, and manpower requirements.
  • Initiating work orders for major scheduled or forced outages and participating in developing weekly plans.
  • Coordinating maintenance planning activities and reviewing work orders with the appropriate supervisors and other elements to assure mutual agreement with understanding, arranging for critical equipment isolation with production, maintaining liaison among production, maintenance and engineering to coordinate plant maintenance planning activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee collateral duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Support station safety, maintenance performance, root cause analysis, condition based monitoring, proactive maintenance initiatives.
  • Support of station forced outages and maintenance outages. This may at times involve working night shift hours, weekends and holidays.

Required:

  • 4 years' experience leading, supervising or managing employees in power generation, operation of power plants, repairs of power plant equipment, marine propulsion power plant.
  • An excellent working knowledge of plant steam, mechanical, electrical systems and their appropriate integration for efficient and effective production

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in technical subjects.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment and power plant environment.
  • Frequent trips into the field and interaction with operations is necessary to ensure proper planning for work.
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid driver's license in state of residency.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Requires operation of a personal computer and knowledge of Microsoft Work Office Suite.

Please Note:The salary range for this role is $101,840.00- $183,360.00.Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate's education and/or experience and consistent with the job location's market pay rate.
