This position provides welder support for piping and structural welding fabrication, maintenance, repair and support for offshore platform and onshore facilities equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory statutes. Work is performed on a project and day-to day basis.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

· Responsible for welder support for the welding of piping and structural components to support production and well operations at all facilities, and work in a team consisting of Welders and Fire Watch

· Provide regulated fire watch duties as required for the welding team

· Provide support for welding and mechanical maintenance and repair of all ancillary equipment

· Train for welder helper duties and for fire watch duties

· Work as directed by Welders, Lead Welders, Lead Operators, Field Supervisors, and Foremen

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support welders to perform layout and planning for piping and structural welding for new installations and repairs as required for all offshore and onshore assets. Provide prep work in advance of welder function as directed by the team leader. Help inventory equipment and supplies for team readiness. Assist operations as needed for maintenance activities in support of production.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Must be qualified under applicable regulations and required fit testing

· Required to wear personal protective equipment which may include self-contained breathing apparatus

· Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and crawling

· Work on an offshore oil platform in close quarters – maintain satisfactory hygiene to work and live with others onboard

· Lift, lower, push, and pull equipment and tools

· Work in confined/restricted working environment

· Work at elevated heights, in enclosed spaces and on uneven walk surfaces

· Climb ladders, stairs, and ramps

· Operate welding equipment and machinery safely

· Operate power, pneumatic hand tools

· Ability to work varying (day and night) shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending operation service needs

· Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions

· Concentrate and focus to monitor, observe for, and respond to safety and environmental issues, including, for example, fire hazards, gas leaks and oil spills

· Satisfactorily pass Fit for Duty Physical

· Obtain and maintain Swing Rope Certification

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Understanding and working knowledge of regulatory compliance governing maintenance and safety

· High School diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school supplemental education preferred

· 1 to 3+ years of previous, relevant experience working in a welding team preferred

· Basic computer skills; ability to read blueprints, construction/engineering drawings and P&IDs preferred

· Physically fit to perform “fit for duty test”
