Primary responsibilities of the Medical Front Desk include:

* Managing the intake of patients in the office as new or established patients
* Verifying status of insurance and benefits
* Collecting and recording patient payments
* Downloading and scanning completed and signed documents, identification card, and insurance card
* Reviewing patient records for authorizations as required for appointments and procedures
* Calling and texting patients about their appointments
* Scheduling and moving new and established patient appointments
* Scanning documents related to payment plans, medical records request and documents for completion by a provider.
* Protects patients' rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information.
Secondary responsibilities include supporting other staff through:

* Verifying benefits for procedures and determining the patient's responsibility for the procedure.
* Communicating with patients regarding a patient balance and the reason for the balance or denial, updating information necessary for correction or to provide the appropriate documentation to correct the claim.
* Setting up patients for patient portal access.
* Coordinating and confirming treatment dates for authorized procedures.
* Planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling prior authorizations for medical procedures and office visits.
* Taking ownership of assignments to improve patient experience and satisfaction.
* Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
* Initiating collection calls and reminders to patients by phone, electronically through the patient portal, email, and mail.
