We have an opening as a Stockroom Manager on Day Shift.


Summary

Supervises stockroom activities and three shifts of stockroom employees. Purchases a variety of commodities, materials, and supplies.


Essential Functions

Overseas all stockroom activities and three shifts of stockroom employees.

Assures that stockroom vehicles are maintained in proper operating order.

Works out remedies for defective or unacceptable goods. Obtains approval from Staff Member on discarding any obsolete or damaged parts or equipment.

Places purchase orders for a variety of commodities, materials and supplies. Purchases at most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors.

Locates sources of supply, negotiates prices, and reviews reliability of suppliers. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability and delivery schedule. Consults departments involved when substitutions may be advantageous, obtains samples, places orders, and follows up on delivery when necessary.

Receives stock requisitions, written requests, drawings, and/or verbal requests for parts. If cost of item(s) is significant, obtains three quotes from suppliers. Prepares purchase order for low bid unless there are factors other than cost. If these factors may influence purchase, obtains approval of a Staff Member.

Overseas the total inventory for all stockroom locations. Works closely with maintenance and financial management to balance inventory limits. After team review and approval, dispose of obsolete and excess inventory.

Obtains information and estimates cost for bill of materials for proposed projects.

Talks with sales representatives and reviews literature and technical publications to keep informed of current trends.

Meets with Accounts Payable on a regular basis to review purchase orders, answer questions and reconcile billing prices with quotes.

Maintains appropriate computerized and paper files on pertinent information.

Maintains areas of operation in a safe and sanitary manner. Makes effective use of and makes recommendations on physical assets. Determines that established safety rules, Company policy and good housekeeping are followed.

Overseas stockroom employee training including Hexagon training to ensure knowledge transfer within the stockroom organization.


Other Duties

Use mathematical skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and equations) in ordering materials, in processing purchase orders, receiving reports and invoices, and in evaluation stocking quantities.

Performs some duties of subordinates in absence of same.

Coordinates with other departments to assure cooperation and timely completion of projects. Communicates and cooperates with other members of management to maintain productive and harmonious working relationships.

Occasionally drives own or company vehicle in performance of some job duties.

Ensures proper selection, training, evaluation, and discipline of and communication with employees.

Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.

Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires Associates Degree in a technical, mechanical, business field or work experience equivalent to 2 years college or technical school. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Five to seven years’ experience in mechanical processes and tools and good working knowledge of production processes and equipment. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations (federal, state, EEOC, ESC, FDA, EPA, OSHA, etc.). Knowledge of personal computers and related software needed. Must speak, read and write in English.

Must demonstrate aptitude to manage people, set example by own conduct and work habits, make prompt and competent decisions, use authority wisely and maintain discipline, morale and teamwork at high standard.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Exercises normal supervisory functions over 1 subordinate exempt employee and indirectly over a small group of stockroom employees.

Personal computer, standard office equipment, own or company vehicle.


Physical Demands
