Job Description
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review documentation on each Inpatient and ED chart immediately upon discharge or next business day.
- Compare documentation to charges captured for every department involved in the care of the inpatient.
- If charges are missed, Charge Coordinator will add charges upon review real time and nurse will be notified of FIN # and charges missed.
- If charges are captured but documentation is missing, nurse will be notified of FIN # and documentation missing.
- Review documentation each Inpatient chart daily or next business day from midnight to midnight.
- Compare documentation to charges captured for every department involved in the care of the inpatient.
- If charges are missed, Charge Coordinator will add charges upon review real time and nurse will be notified of FIN # and charges missed.
- If charges are captured but documentation is missing, nurse will be notified of FIN # and documentation missing so documentation can be added by team member.
- Adheres to AHIMA Ethical coding guidelines.
- Adheres to CPT and HCPC coding guidelines.
- Excellent customer service.
- Adhere to all policies of the organization, including (but not limited to) job description, certification/licensure requirements, mission statement, HIPAA, confidentiality standards and patient’s rights.
- Demonstrates professionalism and accountability
- Demonstrates a caring attitude consistent with Cleveland Area Hospital toward patients, family members, employees and other facility guests
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Ability to pull DA2 reports and coordinate with the Business office and Finance team.
- Identifies and utilizes appropriate channels of communication.

- Participates in departmental activities, meetings and in-services and follows established guidelines

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- LPN License and/or relevant hospital related experience
- Ability to understand Medical Terminology
- Ability to compare supplies / charges to Documentation in Athena & Cerner
- Skilled in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, formulas, Pivot tables), MS Word.
- Excellent mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills including letters, memos and emails.
- Excellent customer service and telephone skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred experience in Athena and Cerner hospital software.
- Some Accounting experience, preferred
RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:
This position could have access to patient confidential records and must comply with HIPAA regulations as well as Compliance Policies.
