Job Description
With 17 facilities in Northern, Central, and Southern California, Muir Wood is a residential and outpatient treatment program designed for teen boys and girls, ages 12-17, with mental health and substance use disorders. In our safe, comfortable, and structured environments, our compassionate clinicians help teens explore and process sensitive issues while learning to manage their lives in productive ways. We provide high-quality Joint Commission-accredited residential treatment, creating an environment where teens and their families feel cared-for, valued, and engaged. Our academic program is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are in-network with Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, MHN, Magellan, Halcyon, and Optum, making our exceptional brand of teen treatment accessible to as many families as possible. The Teacher's primary purpose is to provide academic instruction during the week to Muir Wood clients, collaborate with their home schools and parents, and actively participate in the treatment team as a member of the Muir Wood residential treatment program.
Requirements:Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Complete education evaluation in a timely manner.
- Develop Individual Education Plan for each client of Muir Wood in collaboration with the their home school instructors and school district.
- Provide academic testing on each client (as needed).
- Complete weekly progress report for parents/authorized representative of clients.
- Inform the Clinical Director and treatment team of all behavioral problems and document in the client's file.
- Participate in educational and cultural outings for clients.
- Facilitate the administration of state-of-the-art assessments to develop current level of achievement, ability to learn, and strengths of each client.
- Provide assistance with ACT/SAT preparation and coordination of online courses (when appropriate).
- Provide individual tutoring to clients in need of 1:1 educational needs.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meeting and weekly staff meeting.
- Professionally, ethically, and compassionately relate to clients and peers at all times.
- Perform other duties that may be required from time to time and as instructed by the Director of Academics and Clinical Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and Current State of California teaching credential preferred
- 2 years’ experience teaching in a classroom setting, preferably in a special education setting
- Knowledge of the philosophy and approach of the 12-step model of recovery (AA, CA, NA, Al-Anon, etc.)
- Strong written and communication skills
- Ability to function as part of a treatment team
- TB, Health screen, CPR and First Aid required

Compensation: $66,560 - $72,000 based on education and experience
