Job Summary:

The Information Technology (IT) Auditor performs internal audits and special projects by providing independent, objective assurance, training, and consulting services for Tribal and SMGl information systems and technology infrastructure following standards promulgated by ISACA and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), evaluates IT operations and provides recommendations to improve risk management, control, and governance processes to assist in accomplishing objectives for business efficiency, cost reduction, assets protection, and compliance with government and gaming regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs IT risk assessments by identifying, evaluating and assessing IT development, maintenance activities, emerging technologies, and regulations relating to IT security, corporate governance, and information privacy, etc.
  • Develops IT audit work programs based upon risks identified. Scope of audit work includes IT general controls reviews, application controls reviews, and information security assessments.
  • Performs audit procedures, including collecting, reviewing and analyzing relevant information, documenting business processes and procedures, developing criteria, evaluating evidence, completing audit documentation, and identifying and defining issues and recommendations.
  • Communicates IT audit findings and recommendations, both written and oral, to promote constructive change.
  • Collaborates with management to establish timely, appropriate action plans and conduct audit follow-ups of management's actions.
  • Facilitates monitoring to ensure compliance with external regulations including the Title 31 and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Programs.
  • Plans and performs consulting and advisory services for management.
  • Participates on teams to select or develop applications to serve as a resources to identify risks and ensure they are mitigated.
  • Conducts follow-up to monitor disposition of audit results communicated to management.
  • Provides IT auditing, controls, software and systems training for audit personnel, either one-on-one or in a team environment, to develop and enhance IT audit skills.
  • Consistently maintains a professional demeanor and communicates in a respectful and collaborative manner.
  • Collaborates with and supports other members of the team.
  • Assists with internal audit projects within the department.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with Tribal and casino management and staff.
  • Provides assistance with special projects and/or confidential investigations as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems Management or Information Technology or closely related field of study and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in IT auditing;
  • Previous Tribal government and/or gaming industry experience is desired.
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • High security gaming license issued by the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission.

Driving Requirements:

  • This position may require driving.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • CISA, CISSP or CISM desired.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze business processes, identify risks, and apply sound, well balanced reasoning to reach decisions accurately.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with peers, end users, different levels of management, and write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to create and host presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to participate in a team environment, and build strong working relationships.
  • Strong project management and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads.
  • Working knowledge of Control Objectives for Information Technology (COBIT) and computer assisted auditing techniques (CAATs)
  • Knowledge of the gaming industry and related regulations and Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Professional Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) required, advanced skills in Excel preferred.
  • Understanding of Risk and Control Assessment Techniques desired.
  • Experience working with Data Collection and Analysis Tools and Techniques preferred.
  • Understanding of Internal Audit Standards, theory and methodology strongly desired.
  • Experience with IT development and maintenance activities, older and current emerging technologies, and IT project management methodologies desired.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal and casino safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
