Fabricator/Machine Operator

Position Overview

A Fabricator works as part of the Fabrication Department cutting and prepping raw metal material for the welding process. Fabricators are responsible for grinding, cutting, bending, punching, plasma cutting, forming various sizes of steel pipes and plates. Individuals in this position are responsible for interpreting basic manufacturing drawings, operating machinery and tools, and ensuring that the finished products meet quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to learn how to operate metal fabrication machinery such as pipe plasma cutter, plasma torch table, commercial size saws and other various other machinery.
• Read and understand basic measuring tools.
• Read and interpret manufacturing drawings/prints.
• Measure and cut metal materials to specified dimensions.
• Prepare materials for use by the Welding Department.
• Collaborating with other team members to complete projects efficiently.
• Following established procedures and protocols in the metal fabrication process.
• Understand and follow the production schedule closely.
• Maintains safe work environment by following procedures; complying with safety and quality.

Job Requirements:

• Candidates will have 1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work in a group environment and ask for help when needed.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed processes, and standard accepted practices.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform the essential job functions, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards safely and successfully.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with company policies
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive motion, clutch, lift, grab, bend, stoop, push and pull with no difficulties, be on feet during work shift, and clearly communicate issues.
