General Summary:
Coordinates the activities of the manufacturing process, in order to improve plant wide production efficiency thereby reducing cost and increasing profits. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.  Supports operations with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
  •  Assist in design and engineering of equipment, facility, and flow paths to optimize total system productivity.
  • Provide root cause analysis, troubleshoot problems, and perform and apply engineering studies to assist with problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
  • Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
  • Ensure equipment and systems adhere to safety requirements, as well as local, state, and federal industry regulations.
  • Analyze delivery and inventory issues and provide solutions that optimize the process and cut operation cost.
  • Establish and control quality of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
  • Maximize the efficiency of production lines and ensure effective labor utilization.
  • Analyze quality standards and practices.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes, cost, quality, and design specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications:

  • Previous management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Six sigma and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with EPICOR or any other ERP system.
  • Ability to multi-task and drive projects to completion.

Desired Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • 5+ years of experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Alternate education and experience considered based on individual candidate.

Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Statistical Software such as Minitab or SPSS a plus


Physical Demands:

  • Sitting, 6+ hours per workday
  • Standing, up to 2 hours per workday

Work Environment: Office environment and Production Facility

Travel Requirements: Infrequent
