General Summary:

Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.

Conducts, maintains, tests, and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Quality are top priorities to support in this role.   LOTO and working safely in the troubleshooting and repair of equipment and systems is critical.
  • Responsible for maintaining industrial manufacturing control systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting pneumatics, hydraulic, 24VDC control circuits and mechanical fixtures.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex automated equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical control circuits.
  • Fully understand and troubleshoot motor control circuits, 24VDC up to 480VDC three phase power distribution and motors.
  • Proficient in maintaining and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) – Allen Bradley
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, maintaining and/or programming robotic systems desirable.
  • Proficient in programming and maintaining industrial vision systems.
  • Lead technical aspects of capital project for innovation/automation solutions.
  • Maintain professional and consistent Open Communication with all levels of the organization, communicating with diverse groups of people and ensuring understanding.
  • Demonstrate and serve as a role model for an innovation by continuous improvement in daily processes using PDCA cycles.
  • Demonstrate and serve as a role model for timely, informed decision making by utilizing gamba practices and efficiently gathering information to make decisions.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages, and test equipment.
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.
  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.
  • Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Allen Bradley controls – Siemens a plus.
  • Experience with 24vdc control systems.
  • Experience with maintaining or programming robotics.
  • Experience in repair and analysis of mechanical and electronic systems
  • Experience with industrial vision system applications (Cognex and Keyence a plus)
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment including use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
  • Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Computer experience/operation and PLC programming are necessary.
  • High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required.

Desired Education and/or Experience:

  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.
  • Two years applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Alternate education and experience considered based on individual candidate.

Language Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Computer Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
  • Must be highly safety conscious.
  • Exposed to high voltage electricity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
