General Labor Assembler

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and operates handheld power tools and outfits doors, tanks, and various units with hardware before they are installed on units.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Uses hand tools to assemble units and parts.
  • Affixes warning and associated product decals and reflectors as specified.
  • Maintains accuracy of product by following specifications, work orders, and known practices.
  • Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Maintains accuracy of product by following specs and known practices.
  • Maintains/produces level of inventory that will minimize production delays.
  • Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
  • Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Operates equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operation to the Safety Director and Production Supervisor and Manager.
  • Assists other individuals in any department when needed.
  • Assists in housekeeping items.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
  • Math skills including good understanding of fractions.
  • Ability to read tape measure.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and technical documents.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical ability to climb and work on a ladder
  • Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling and overhead positions.
  • Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches.
