Riding Instructor
The Riding Instructor organizes, implements, facilitates, and evaluates the interaction between horses and clients of all abilities. This position assists the Barn Manager in the delivery of a safe and fun horseback riding and small animal program.
- Follow lesson plans that meet rider goals and create new plans as needed.
- Provide assistance to other Instructors as a Support Instructor as needed.
- Communicate and interact effectively with riders, parents or caregivers, donors and visitors.
- Maintain all appropriate client paperwork.
- Provide after-lesson horse and tack care.
- Help plan and facilitate creative riding, horsemanship, and small animal program activities.
- Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHS’s mission and vision.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Equine handling knowledge and riding skills.
- Familiarity and experience with individuals with special needs.
- Previous experience in the care of horses and small animals.
- Demonstrated history of dependability and responsibility.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to collaborate with and work within a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years’ experience with adaptive horsemanship preferred.
- Must be certified through CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) or PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that is acceptable and meet requirements of the agency’s insurance carrier.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Must meet the State’s Moral Character standard.
