Duty Schedule:
Assist the Land Grant Director and Land Grant Staff with conducting and completed Community Outreach Project.
Summary/Objective of Position:
The Land Grant Office conducts outreach to farmers and ranchers throughout the Navajo Nation. This include conducting informals, hands-on education. Additionally, the EA assistance will conduct agricultural projects on and off campus and will also assist farmers and rancher with farming activities that fulfills our grant goals and objectives.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

-Assist with completed projects at the Tsaile and Shiprock Farms.
-Conduct presentation and workshops when requested by community members
-Will assist the Research Coordinator with project and intern management.
-Assist on the hoophouse projects.
-Assist with the local Water User Producers Projects, recruiting and providing hands-on assistance with delivering irrigation pipe, seeding, etc.
-Work with existing producers, supplementation of producers safety.
-Work with interns on understanding and completing daily task.
-Assist with the Tsaile Community watershed project and water hauling site analysis/ questionnaire5.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
5 year experience with farming and ranching.
Preferred:
Project management or research related to agriculture, natural resource or environmental projects.
Knowledge:
Working with farm machinery, welders, understand farming practice (ranching, handling livestock, farming method, gardens, etc.)
Skills:
Must have at least 5 years working with/on farms/ livestock. Must also have implemented management best practices (erosion control, watershed management, soil amendments, seedling, irrigation, etc.).
Abilities:
Must be able to conduct presentation in public setting and creating and organizing outreach projects
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:
Must be able to lift 50lbs minimal, work with machinery, equipment, hand tools, travel to worksite and project site.
Other Requirement(s):
Must have a valid drivers license. Navajo language but not mandatory.
