Topeka Spring 2025 Internship

SSC Advisors, Inc. (“SSC”) is currently accepting applications for paid interns for the Spring 2025 semester. SSC is a dynamic employee-owned Accounting and Consulting Firm with five convenient Kansas locations in Overland Park, Lawrence, Meriden, Topeka, and Salina. The Interns applying here will be housed in the Topeka office with 100% on-site work. The ideal intern candidate is someone who is interested in public accounting as a career, is currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program with an accounting major or related field, and has a strong desire to learn and grow within the industry.

Position Purpose:

The intern will have the opportunity to support our team of accounting and management professionals, contributing to the delivery of top-tier financial information and advisory services to our clients.

Responsibilities:

• Scanning and organizing documents received from clients.
• Virtual filing and document management.
• Assisting in preparing tax return work papers under experienced guidance.
• Collaborating on the preparation of business and/or individual tax returns.
• Post-Individual Tax Class contributions, including tax return preparation, extension calculations, client meeting participation, research support, financial document verification, and tax audit assistance.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program with an accounting major or related field.
• Completed Individual Tax Class.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
• Strong interpersonal skills with clear written and verbal communication.
• Discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
• Willingness to learn with attention to detail.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
• Initiative-taking attitude.

Additional Notes:

This is a variable-hour position with availability ranging from 20-30 hours per week, scheduled in advance based on coursework. Work hours may extend beyond the traditional workweek (Monday to Friday, 8 am-5 pm).
