Job Summary

The Automotive Parts Counterman at Oro Ford is a full-time customer service role with a competitive base salary, and commission bonus opportunity. Automotive Parts Countermen play a critical role in ensuring that customers receive the right automotive parts and accessories to keep their vehicles running smoothly. Their knowledge, customer service skills, and attention to detail are key to their success in this role. The Counterman’s primary responsibility is supporting the parts department with organizing and tracking the inventory of auto parts.  This role will be located in Oracle, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and provide them with friendly and professional assistance. Listen to their needs and offer appropriate solutions and recommendations for automotive parts and accessories.

  • Possess a deep understanding of various automotive parts, their functions, and compatibility with different vehicle makes and models. Be able to quickly and accurately identify parts based on customer descriptions and vehicle information.

  • Maintain a well-organized and clean parts counter area. Keep track of inventory levels, restock shelves, and order parts as needed to ensure a sufficient supply of products.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technologies and industry trends. Be able to provide technical information and advice to customers when necessary.

  • Actively promote sales of automotive parts, accessories, and related products. Suggest add-on items or alternative solutions to meet customer needs and increase sales revenue.

  • Accurately process customer orders, including selecting the correct parts, pricing them, and preparing invoices or receipts. Ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly in the computer system.

  • Maintain records of sales transactions, customer information, and inventory levels. Keep track of special orders and backorders, and communicate delivery times to customers.

  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including the safe handling and storage of hazardous materials such as chemicals and batteries. Comply with industry regulations and company policies.


Requirements

  • A strong background in automotive parts and systems is essential. This typically includes knowledge of engines, brakes, suspension, transmission, and other key components.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for interacting with a diverse range of customers and providing exceptional service.

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and point-of-sale (POS) software for order processing and inventory management.

  • Accuracy in identifying and processing parts orders is vital to the role.

  • A sales-oriented mindset with the ability to upsell and cross-sell products effectively.

  • The job may involve lifting heavy parts and being on your feet for extended periods.

  • The ability to analyze customer needs and offer appropriate solutions.

  • Familiarity with automotive industry suppliers, brands, and product lines is an advantage.

  • Strong organizational skills to keep inventory and paperwork in order.

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some employers may prefer or require post-secondary education or specialized training in automotive technology.
