Job Description
Woodgrain is seeking a Mechanical Engineer that can utilize their machine design and project management experience to lead in the development and execution of new capital projects. The Mechanical Engineer will partner with management and the engineering team to achieve project objectives including safety, quality, efficiency, accurate budgets, and deadlines. Responsibilities will include overseeing the research, design, construction, and installation of equipment created for sites in the Millwork and Lumber Divisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Partner with management and the Millwork Engineering Manager to develop equipment design and cost estimates as new capital projects are considered.
  • Work with management to evaluate selected manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Develop modification plans to existing processes and equipment to improve operations.
  • Develop effective layout and equipment drawings for projects.
  • Prepare detailed equipment specifications and contracts.
  • Provide detailed and accurate progress reports on projects.
  • Lead in project management to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Assist in the education and development of other engineering team members.
  • Supervise fabrication personnel through the fabrication and installation.
  • Test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of specifications.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.(Required)
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or Design Engineer, including experience designing machines and equipment used in manufacturing.(Required)
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting for industrial engineering projects.
  • Ability to define and analyze problems, evaluating relevant facts and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel out of state up to 25% of the year, as projects require.
  • Proficient computer and networking skills. Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor a plus.
  • Commitment to working in a team oriented and continuous improvement environment.
  • Ability to maintain customer focus in a fast paced and varied environment.
