Position Title: Kitchen Assistant 

Location: Camp Alice Pittenger- McCall, ID 

Salary Range: $80 per day  

Dates: June 18th to August 4, 2024 

*Glamp August 8th – August 19th, 4 Day per week 

 

Position Summary:  

 The best, most fun, challenging job you will ever love. As the Camp Cook at Camp Alice Pittenger, you are responsible for providing a variety of nutritious meals to campers and staff that are appetizing and timely, while maintaining high quality kitchen organization and safety standards.    

 

Using guidance from the CDC, American Camp Association, Girl Scouts of the USA and local health districts we are taking every precaution, including property improvements and updated sanitation procedures, to keep everyone healthy and safe. We are looking for passionate camp staff who committed to the safety of our camp staff and girls and who can adhere to our strict health and safety protocols.   

  

This position includes room and board for the length of employment.

Responsibilities:  

  • Prepares and serves healthy, well-balanced meals, on time, three times per day for up to 100 campers and staff. 

  • Prepares alternative meals for participants and staff with special dietary needs.  

  • Ensures all food preparation procedures meet or exceed all applicable heath codes. 

  • Ensures the kitchen is kept clean and meets the standards of camp management and the health department. 

  • Prepare food for outdoor cooking. 

  • Adaptability and flexibility in kitchen operations for new health and safety standards  

  • Responsible for ensuring that all dishes are washed, dried and put away properly after every meal. 

  • Uses resources wisely and prevents waste. 

  • Responsible for keeping everything in the dining room clean and in working order. 

  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with families and visitors. 

  • Complete daily sanitation practices including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. 

  • Attends weekly campfire and other Girl Scout traditional activities.  

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Skills/ Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 16 years old. 

  • Adaptable and flexible. 

  • Must have (or be willing to obtain) a Food Handler’s Permit or SERV Safe Certification.  

  • Knowledge of and experience in food service including ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, cleaning and use of institutional kitchen equipment.   

  • First Aid and CPR or higher certifications required. 

  • Must feel comfortable living in a rustic camp environment with limited access to cell phone service and internet.  

  • Willing to work long hours. 

  • Asks for assistance when needed.
