PathPoint is excited to welcome new full-time, bilingual (Spanish, Mixteco) Family Support Specialists to join our Coordinated Family Support (CFS) team and Employment Services in Santa Maria. In this dual job role, you will be supporting adults with disabilities and their families and also working as a job coach. Our job coaches support adults with disabilities at their place of work, helping them maintain successful employment and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.

About Us: PathPoint is a non-profit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and young adults in living the life they choose. Through strengthening workplace abilities, developing essential life skills, and fostering meaningful relationships, we serve communities in Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Coordinated Family Support Program: CFS offers specialized support for adults with developmental disabilities residing in their family homes. Our services are tailored and flexible, catering to the unique needs of each individual and their family or caregiver. As a Family Support Specialist, you'll provide essential guidance, advocacy, and assistance with community resources. Your responsibilities will include conducting weekly home visits to understand the specific needs and challenges of each family. Collaborating with both the family and the CFS team, you'll develop and implement practical, long-term strategies and short-term objectives.

Employment Services: As a job coach, you will accompany individuals to their place of work, observe their abilities, and identify any areas for improvement. Provide feedback and assistance to increase productivity and encourage positive work behavior. Coach and counsel individuals on workplace issues/concerns, and advocate for them when needed. Assist individuals in completing work-related paperwork, such as time cards, time off requests, tax forms, and benefits enrollment. Assist in developing and implementing an individualized plan for coaching individuals to work more independently, with the eventual goal of complete self-sufficiency.

Schedule: Variable schedule based on client's availability, up to 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Friday.

Starting Pay: $22.00 per hour. The pay range for this position is $20.96 - $31.45 (subject to change based on a variety of factors).

What We're Looking For:

  • Must have an Associates-level degree in human services or at least 3 years of experience in human services.
  • Fluent in Spanish or Mixteco is a plus!
  • Comfortable with home visits and capable of designing and executing customized program curriculum
  • Ability to recognize and respect the diverse dynamics within each family
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, social workers, DOR or Regional Center Staff and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Knowledge of the Regional Center, community resources and support services are desired.
  • Ability to advocate effectively on behalf of families within various systems.
  • Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
  • Must hold a valid California driver's license with satisfactory driving record and at least 5 years of driving experience.
