Responsibilities

Must be able to work Night Shift + Overtime AND Weekend Shift Days (Thurs-Sun/Fri-Mon)

Night shift is Monday-Thursday: 6pm - 6am + Overtime as needed

Weekend Day Shift: 6am-6pm either Thursday - Sunday or Friday - Monday + Overtime as needed

  • Starting wage range $21.26/hr - $25.01/hr (experienced CNC Machine Shop Operators may be eligible for the higher starting rate depending on years of experience) and night shift differential pay
  • New employees are subject to a 90 day probationary period including attendance requirements

Our Savannah Operations is a heavy industrial Forging manufacturing plant located in Midway, Georgia, employs approximately 190 people and is poised for growth!

We have immediate openings for experienced Machine Operators / CNC Machinists for our Machining Department for Night Shift. Incumbents will perform a variety of tasks including the following: setting up and operating equipment for machining and inspections, operating hand tools, and other related general manufacturing work.

Job Requirements:
  • Candidates MUST be able to work Night Shift
  • This position requires overtime on Fridays as needed and directed by operations
  • Subject to preemployment contingencies: drug test, physical, and background check
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and raise any concerns to the appropriate leaders
  • Performs all operations in a timely manner and identifies improvement opportunities
  • Sets up and operate any standard and specialized machines to perform necessary operations in departments to which assigned, including but not limited to:
    • CNC lathes (horizontal and vertical)
    • CNC milling machines
    • Drill presses
    • Manual lathes
    • Manual mills
    • Saws
    • General hand tools
    • Jib and overhead cranes
  • General understanding of G-code to perform common machining operations
  • Learn to setup and operate any new machinery added to the departments to which assigned
  • Checks parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicator) and submits parts for inspection as required
  • Reads blueprints and understands general GD&T principles
  • Evaluate, inspect, and document the condition of dies and die components and log the status of the job
  • Keeps work area clean, safe, and in an orderly fashion daily
  • Understand the speeds and feeds pertaining to various machines
  • Communicate effectively with engineering and coordinators
  • Working knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principles
  • Performs other tasks as required

Physical Requirements:

Continuously required to wear common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, Hard Hats.

Ability to use computers.

Ability to read and understand work instructions.

Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions.

Continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

The ability to raise/lower an object with control by reaching near floor, knee, waist, or chest levels.

The ability to keep or regain balance or remain upright when walking on varying surfaces.

The ability to make precisely coordinated movements with fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, place or assemble.

The ability to lift/push/pull up to a max of 50 lbs unassisted on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a machine operator and/or production / manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Machinist certification preferred
  • CNC machining experience
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience
  • 3+ years of experience operating mobile equipment
  • 3+ years of experience using hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment
  • 3+ years of experience in relatable machinery operations
  • Ability to read and interpret product prints.
  • Ability to use inspection gages and instruments
  • Setup machinery for operation by self or others
