Summary of Position

The Environmental Scientist position will include a combination of office-based tasks and field activities and daily interactions with a multidisciplinary team of scientists/engineers in the management of a broad range of environmental compliance activities.


Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include management/execution of environmental compliance and permitting activities with a heavy emphasis on field auditing, project planning, supervising field studies, data review, and report writing.

The Environmental Scientist position will the lead compliance activities and assist as needed in a wide range of environmental focused projects.


Qualifications

    • An understanding of environmental science, environmental compliance, sampling, data interpretation and permitting within the Marianas region and/or coastal settings.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level of communication with varying levels of project staff.
    • Able to work in both the office and field.
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to learn quickly are vital.
    • Attention to detail in following safety plans, work plans, collecting data, and preparing reports.
    • Experience using ArcGIS version 10+ is preferred.
    • Ability to acquire access on military installations and have a valid driver license.

Education and Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following disciplines: Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.

Must have five to ten years of experience in Guam.

Working Conditions

  • Field work in rugged, jungle terrain.
  • Ability to work in variable weather conditions (high heat/high humidity) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work the hours necessary to meet client schedules and deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to satisfactorily pass pre-employment and post-employment drug and alcohol tests.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass post-employment physical.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs. on occasion.
