The Chef Manager monitors the daily operations of food preparation, quality and presentation ensuring that we provide residents with delicious, nutritional, and safe meals in a warm and welcoming environment.
What you’ll do
- Prepare daily meals and assist with catering and events
- Conduct staff meetings, create agendas and training material as needed and demonstrate culinary skills while mentoring staff.
- Manage the daily operations of food preparation, quality, and presentation.
- Plan and budget for future meals and events in collaboration with Director of Dining Services.
- Monitor food cost, waste, production, and food storage to ensure proper budget adherence.
- Assist in developing and maintaining dining services policies and procedures.
- Develop, maintain, review, and implement menus.
- Develop, maintain, review and implement current and new recipes.
- Assist the Director of Dining Services in leading the dining services staff and team.
What it takes
- Five (5) years of progressive culinary experience in a restaurant or long-term care dining services environment in a cook to order setting.
- Five (5) years of supervisory, management and coaching experience leading a culinary staff of 10 or more team members
- Three (3) years of food ordering and inventory management in a restaurant or long-term care dining services setting.
- Three (3) years of catering production experience.
- Certification or Degree in Culinary Arts preferred
- ServSafe Certified preferred
- Allergen Certified preferred
