POSITION SUMMARY

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and looks to leverage the latest technologies, best-in-industry equipment, construction, and safety practices to build a first-class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US. The company currently has projects in Northern California, Nevada and Southern Colorado and is looking to expand to other geographies over the next 12-24 months. This position represents an opportunity to join an awesome team on the ground floor, learn a lot and have a ton of fun as GRC grows!

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

  • Primarily responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementation of a safe, quality daily and weekly production plan for our crews.
  • Optimize crew production in Dirt or Rock conditions while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure equipment has the proper tooling for the work at hand, has spare parts as needed, and is on track with proper maintenance schedules.
  • Help remove and navigate around roadblocks to crew production.
  • Train/Mentor and guide crews of various skill levels to help them achieve their best potential.
  • Drilling equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground construction or utilities, in a safe and effective manner
  • Safely operates drill equipment on the job site which may include but is not limited to the following: Directional Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment / Haul Water), Vacuum Truck/Trailer
  • Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the job site
  • Will develop and maintain a boring schedule
  • Responsible for the site set-up and clean-up
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
  • Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
  • Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
  • May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
  • Ability to follow instructions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires a minimum of 4+ years of experience drilling in various rock conditions. Must have experience with Air Hammers, Mud Motors, and dual rod/AT drills.
  • Must be able to identify various rock conditions, choose the appropriate tooling and equipment for the job, and manage your crews effectively.

Schedule:

  • 55-70 hours per week

Base Pay:

  • Salary - 120k-160k per year

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay based on production of crews supervised.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Projects will be in CA, NV, UT, CO initially.

Experience:

  • Horizontal drilling: 6 years (Required), 10 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
  • CDL (Candidates Holding CDL will be given preference)
