Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

Carry out assigned tasks related to plant maintenance by performing the following:

  • Servicing and maintaining the physical integrity of the utility systems to include the Ammonia Refrigeration processes, HVAC systems, Compressed Air systems and Steam systems.
  • Participate in all Utility Department trainings to support Ammonia Refrigeration, HVAC, Compressed Air, and Steam systems.
  • Comply with all PSM/RMP regulations.
  • Participate in all Management of Change requirements.
  • Comply with all OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Comply with all Bolthouse Farms Safety Procedures.
  • Comply with all Food Safety and SQF requirements.
  • Maintenance duties to include the servicing, inspection, lubrication, and troubleshooting of the interconnected Utility Systems (Ammonia, HVAC, Steam, and Compressor Air).
  • Perform required Ammonia System equipment inspections on Weekly, Monthly,
  • Quarterly, Semi-annual, and Annual frequencies and troubleshoot and correct any issues that are encountered
  • Monitor and document Ammonia pressures and temperatures while making system adjustments to maintain operating parameters and support plant operations.
  • Service and maintain the various HVAC units both onsite and off-site.
  • Identify and repair electrical issues associated with the HVAC units.
  • Replace HVAC refrigeration components, compressors, filter dryers, valves etc.
  • Monitor and document Air compressor pressures and temperatures to ensure pressure set points are met and identify and correct any issues that are encountered.
  • Perform routine inspections of the compressed air system and repair areas of loss when found.
  • Monitor and maintain a written record of Cold Room and Production room temperatures making system adjusts when necessary to meet room requirements.
  • Document corrective actions identified during daily inspections and PMs by creating and updating corrective work orders, daily shift pass-downs and daily time sheets.
  • Perform Boiler Safety tests and inspections on Daily, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-annual, and Annual frequencies.
  • Observe the Boiler and Steam system operations and make pressure adjustments to meet equipment setpoints and support plant operations.
  • Monitor feed water regulators and pumps.
  • Test and treat boiler feed water systems.
  • Inspect the efficiency of the steam system identifying steam loss creating corrective work orders for the scheduling of repairs.
  • Maintain Boiler data logs and record testing results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor in support of Thermal Utilities operations

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Communicate effectively in English in both written and oral forms.
  • Have good mathematical skills.
  • Be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and sketches.
  • Must be able to demonstrate retention of facility Operating Procedures and follow through in their use.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • React quickly under pressure
  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical schoo
  • 4 years Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration
  • Experience with Steam Boiler Operations a plus.
  • General knowledge or all typical facilities utility systems (i.e. water systems, compressed air systems, steam systems, refrigeration systems, et
  • Must have a current Driver’s license to support off-site equipment utilizing company vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Fit test and remain compliance with the BHF Respirator Policy
  • Must be able to work at heights on roofs, on ladders, and in boom/scissor lifts
  • Must be able to go up ladders and stairs several times a day to access equipment
  • Operate as a first responder in HAZMAT situations
  • Hazwoper Certified

Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and documenting Cold Room temperatures on a four-hour basis and communicating any abnormal or critical temperatures to the Quality Control Department (QC).
  • When abnormal or critical temperatures are found, evaluate the refrigeration system, and make necessary adjustments to bring temperatures back to normal operating limits.

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility: Standing, walking, and material handling for prolonged periods of time; occasional sitting, lifting, and carrying with frequent use of ladders and stairs.
  • Other factors: Ability to work odd shifts, including overtime and weekends when business requires.

Work Environment:

  • Works inside and outside the facility with exposure to extremely hot and cold environments, wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Exposure to mechanical parts that vary in temperature from freezing to hot temperatures in excess of 350 deg F.

Hazards:

  • Environments that include extreme cold -15 deg F to extreme heat with equipment temperatures of 350 deg F.
  • Working daily on or around Anhydrous Ammonia equipment.
  • Working in or around Confined Spaces.
  • Working on or around Steam equipment or piping
  • Job duties may require working near caustics, including but not limited to acids, chlorines, bleaches.
  • Repeated use of ladders and stairs in order to service and maintain equipment.

Safety Equipment:

  • Required to use Full Face air purifying respirator for short periods on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to remain compliant with OSHA’s Respirator requirements.
