Job Title: EH&S Coordinator

OVERVIEW: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to join our team. The EHS Coordinator will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure the safety of our employees, compliance with regulations, and protection of the environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and Implement EHS Policies and Procedures: Work closely with management to develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, permits and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant safety & environmental regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Training and Education: Coordinate and conduct employee training programs on safety procedures, hazard communication, emergency response, and other relevant topics. Develop and maintain training materials and records to ensure compliance and competency.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and environmental spills. Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and prepare comprehensive incident reports in accordance with regulatory requirements. Maintain and analyze safety records and data to identify trends and areas for improvements.
  • Environmental Management: Manage environmental compliance programs, including waste management, air emissions, wastewater treatment, and hazardous materials handling. Coordinate with regulatory agencies as necessary and maintain accurate records of environmental permits and reporting requirements. Manage the requirements within all environmental permits ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential workplace hazards and develop mitigation strategies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment as most applicable.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire prevention, and spill containment. Coordinate emergency drills and exercises to ensure readiness and effectiveness of response procedures.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization through communication, training, recognition programs, and involvement in safety committees. Encourage employee engagement and participation in safety initiatives to continuously improve safety performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conducts comprehensive safety audits and inspections and recommends actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations. Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazard.
  • Sustainability: Supports the promotion of workplace sustainability initiatives by effectively engaging with leadership and team members, serving as a dedicated ambassador and strategic partner in the implementation of critical sustainability projects.

THE SUCCESSFUL CADIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental protection, occupational safety, and health.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or a related role, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a safety professional role.
  • In addition to education requirements, 2 years of experience in an occupational safety role. Working knowledge of safety in a facilities or production maintenance environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with EHS management systems/software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective solutions.

Physical demands of the position are heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, climbing, and bending flexibility. Must be able to work safely in varying temperature extremes since equipment is often located on roof tops and other unconditioned spaces. Safely work on ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other types of lifts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
