Summary of Position

Assisting in a wide range of environmental compliance projects while having daily interactions with a multidisciplinary team of scientists.


Duties & Responsibilities

Specific tasks include assisting senior staff with the following:

  • Preparing project documents, planning/coordinating/leading field efforts, and collecting/evaluating data and reporting.
  • Assisting in a wide range of environmental compliance projects which could include field studies to support assessments, solid waste compliance, stormwater/wastewater/drinking water and other related environmental compliance activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry or another related scientific discipline.
  • 0 - 5 years' experience.
  • Ability to work in both the office and the field.
  • Must be comfortable working several days a week in hot and humid conditions on challenging terrain with thick vegetation.
  • Ability to work independently in remote field settings in a variety of weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when faced with unexpected circumstances.
  • Ability to work efficiently and safely.
  • Ability to obtain a military base pass for access to military installations and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level of communication with varying levels of project staff.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to learn quickly are vital.
  • Attention to detail in following safety plans, work plans, collecting data, and preparing reports.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass pre-employment and post-employment drug and alcohol tests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER with current 8-hour refresher, and supervisor training

Work Environment:

  • Works regular hours 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday (will require additional/flexible hours when necessary to meet deadlines).
  • Spends extended lengths of time in front of a computer screen in a climate-controlled office.
