American Alarm and Communications is seeking an experienced Advanced Systems Technician to join our growing team in the Bourne, MA area.

Summary of duties and responsibilities

Under general supervision performs routine installation, testing and inspections, and repair of residential and commercial intrusion, fire, access, and video systems according to system specifications and American Alarm protocols to ensure that systems are functioning properly.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine inspections of residential and commercial intrusion, fire, access, and video systems according to system specifications and American Alarm protocols to ensure that systems are functioning properly. Inspects the quality of work to ensure it meets company standards.
  • Installs and services residential and commercial fire, intrusion, access, and video systems following directions, project specifications and project timelines.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repair functions for residential and commercial fire, intrusion, access and video systems and equipment such as: cleaning detectors; testing controls and peripheral devices; adjusting cameras; mounting, replacing, and testing equipment according to specifications; running cable, bending pipes, etc. Be a "go-to" resource for colleagues occasionally.
  • Responds to onsite customer inquiries and instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of fire, intrusion, access, and video systems.
  • Defines the scope of add-ons and change orders, seeks customer approval, for follow up work. Communicates appropriate information to Salesperson regarding site issues.
  • Maintains accurate records of all installations, inspections, service calls and troubleshooting as required. Provides accurate, detailed, and timely data entries and reports to management. Uses company enterprise level software for all transactions.
  • Provides advice and assistance to apprentices. Maintains project timelines and goals.
  • Provides constructive feedback to technical leadership on product solution performance.
  • Other duties as required by management.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent plus the completion of a vocational, technical or license training program.


Experience

  • Knowledge of installing, testing, inspecting, and repairing basic intrusion, fire, access, and video systems.

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid MA Systems Technician "D" license or journeyman electrician "B" license, or equivalent in other states. Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance and or/Massachusetts security certificate of clearance. Valid Driver's License required. Boston F1 and other municipal certifications preferred.


Skills

  • Job requires command of English language including reading, speaking, writing, and taking verbal instructions to clearly communicate and follow instructions. Touch typing a plus.

Tools Used

  • Ladder, company vehicle, hand tools, (i.e., screwdriver, drill, meters, telephone headset, soldering iron, pipe bender, Hilti gun etc.) telephone, lift, calculator, laptop, tablet, smartphone. Must have a currently valid driver's license and be 25 years old or have a clear driving record to operate a company vehicle.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, travel by car and fit into tight places.
  • Must be able to respond to audible and visual signals indicating that the system is functioning.
