Architectural Staff I

1. Function

Full-time, entry level professional performing basic architectural assignments. Undertakes a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard architectural techniques for small projects or selected segments of a larger project. Performs design layouts and features, which require researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work.

Architectural Staff I are entry level architects and designers and are usually in their first years of professional work. They support the spirit and production of the design team and the firm. They provide critical support for every member of the team and in return deserve the time and commitment of the team to help them learn to expand their skills and take pride in their contribution. The individual must exhibit professional comportment, good attitude, and an aggressive enthusiasm to learn. Design aptitude and facility with multiple modes of visual expression are necessary.

• Possesses promising relevant graphic and computer skills

• In pursuit of a professional degree, or recently obtained professional degree

4. Training Offered/Expected

Employees are expected to work with their mentor to design a yearly training program. This program will include discipline specific training along with training for tools and technologies required for them.

• Produces Finish board and Image/Concept board layout and production
• Is learning digital modeling of sketch options
• Innovative with colors, design ideas, elevations, etc.
• Produce draft meeting notes and memorandums for review
• Meeting set-up and removal
• Log submittals and RFI and prepare them for review

• Digital file management and standards
• Revit - Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a requirement

13. Typical Working Conditions

Work performed in a combination of an office and rare field environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. In some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear, eye, and hard hats for protection are necessary.
