Mechanical Engineer

Job purpose

To plan and execute mechanical designs for industrial equipment containing conveyors and materials handling mechanisms. Designs will include for mechanical and electro-mechanical components requiring expertise with CAD software.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Development of materials handling equipment, scientific instruments and devices
  • Execution of mechanical design principles for manufacturing equipment development
  • CAD of mechanical designs and reporting of data
  • Management of projects
  • Searching, reviewing, and evaluating equipment designs

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Looking for both entry-level and experienced mechanical engineers
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology
  • Proficient in use CAD software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Must be able to translate project needs into the design of hardware
  • Strong aptitude in hands-on work
  • Experience in building metal parts using manual lathe/mill and CNC is a plus
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Excellent engineering reading and writing skills
  • Diligence in Engineering Design Principles, Commitment to meeting deadlines

Working conditions

Working in a high technology startup company, the engineer will work with/lead teams in a hands-on environment to meet the mechanical engineering requirements.

Physical requirements

The execution of work begins in team meetings where the projects needs are discussed, the engineer then translates these needs to mechanical designs though CAD software and then ensures that the parts are machined and assembled correctly to fulfill the project needs.
